About Heather

Dr. Heather Wang and her husband Jack have been living in Plano since 2006. Both have had successful careers while serving the community and raising a family. Their two daughters are Plano ISD students attending Jasper High School.

Heather was born in a small village in China. Heather’s father, a mechanic working in a city fifty miles away from the village, could come home only on weekends. Heather’s mother essentially had to raise four kids alone. Without the sacrifices her parents made and her own hard work in school, Heather would not have been the first in her family to go to college.

Heather attended Beijing Foreign Studies University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in German Studies. With thirty dollars in her pocket, she went to graduate school at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where she received both master’s and Ph.D. degrees in German Language and Literature.

Heather is the broker-owner of Lucky Bamboo Realty. As a successful small business owner, she is an expert in budgeting, planning and negotiating for her business and clients.

A committed and active advocate for promoting education as a means to develop personal achievement and social mobility, Heather loves contributing her time to help students, teachers and parents in the classroom, library, PTA and booster club. Her volunteer service at PISD began when her first daughter enrolled at Gulledge Elementary School. Currently, she is VP of Ways and Means in Jasper High School PTSA. She is also serving as a member of both the Diversity Advisory Committee and the Gifted and Talented (PACE) Advisory Committee, having been appointed to each in 2017 by the Plano ISD School Board.

Heather works tirelessly to strengthen our community. She is a member of the Library Advisory Board (appointed by Plano City Council in 2017) and a graduate of Plano Citizens Academy. Heather is the co-founder and a board member of the Youth Community Impact Association. She was also the co-founder and VP of Membership of the Amazing Champions Toastmasters Club and Youth Leadership Program. Previously Heather was president of the Younger Generation Children’s Chorus. Heather and her family attend and serve at Chase Oaks Church in Plano.
